The newly-opened Ukokkei Japan by Menzo Japanese Ramen at SM North is a temptation that our family couldn’t resist. We’ve tried a number of ramen noodles from different ramen restaurants since favorite nga namin, especially this ramen-loving girl (yours truly!)

So after Z’s piano lessons, we went straight to Ukokkei Ramen to have a taste of their authentic ramen dishes.

Z ordered Ajitama Ramen, with tonkotsu broth. A classic ramen taste. It’s topped with slices of pork belly, ramen egg (half), black fungus, spring onion, and seaweed. The pork bone soup is savory. Taste is similar with the umami of the ones we’ve tried — Butao of Ramen Nagi, and other tonkotsu-based ramen. Z finished the bowl in a few minutes, so I think that’s a big YES!

Midori Ramen for the husband. The same pork bone broth but with green bean and basil leaf as special ingredients.  It has a fresh and healthy taste, which reminded me of Ramen Nagi’s Green King. So may pagka-Japanese and Italian fusion siya. We love basil, we love Pesto pasta, so winner din itong Midori Ramen.

I ordered a Special Kuro (garlicky) ramen but they served me Special Shiro Chashu Ramen. I didn’t knew about it until I’m halfway through my bowl.

I didn’t complain though, because the one that they served me is really delicious. Their special ramen is definitely a level up from their normal ones. Special ramen is served in red bowls. I recommend that you order the ones with the red bowls. 🙂

This is, so far, the best non-spicy ramen for me. It’s simply perfect. 🙂 Even without adding pepper and toasted garlic, it’s still perfect. The egg, the chashu, the broth — perfect. Even the serving size is perfect. LOL. I also love the sparerib of Hanamaruken’s Happiness Ramen.

For this special ramen, I got a whole soft-boiled egg and 2 thick slices of melt-in-your-mouth chashu.  One of the best I’ve tasted. I’ll be going back for this special ramen for sure!
