Packed with diversity, a bustling food scene, a dynamic mix of tourist attractions and rest and relaxation, Toronto, the capital of Ontario and Canada’s largest city, has all of the things you’re looking for in your next family vacation.
From museums, trendy restaurants, and hip coffee shops to the world-famous CN Tower and more, and whether you choose a private jet charter by Jettly or book an airline flight, here are 5 reasons why you should book a trip to Toronto this year.
Fun for all ages
Toronto has plenty of activities to keep your young kids or teens amused. Families never get tired of Ripley’s Aquarium of Canada, and because it is indoors, it’s perfect for a rainy day outing.
The Toronto Islands, Ontario Place, Casa Loma, Kensington Market, Chinatown, Queen Street West, and the Toronto Zoo are a few attractions you might want to explore. If you have more time, you may want to venture into the countryside and see other sites as well.
Easy to get around
As far as how far away from each other things are in Toronto, you will find some attractions are in the same general area while others not so much. But not to worry, it is quite easy to get around the city of Toronto using the public transit system.
The CN Tower
At 553.3 meters, the CN Tower is the ninth tallest free-standing structure in the world and remains the tallest free-standing structure in the Western Hemisphere. It is also one of the top attractions in the city. In 2021, however, another downtown building will become Toronto’s landmark destination for its sheer size. The One, developed by Sam Mizrahi, is an 85-storey tower located at the intersection of Yonge and Bloor streets. Upon its completion, it will be Canada’s second-tallest structure, after the CN Tower.
Distillery District
Although the name is a bit misleading, there is nothing to worry about taking your kids to this popular Toronto destination. It’s not a drinking establishment, but a rehab of an old distillery complex that now contains a number of interesting shops, artisan galleries and places to eat. Other notable mentions
Tours are easily available from Toronto to Niagara Falls, and you can take the train or rent a car if you want to venture to Ottawa or into the more rugged, northern part of Ontario. Then, of course, the kids will love Canada’s Wonderland theme park. It is only about a 45-minute bus ride from Toronto. There are also lots of activities going on at the Harbourfront. It often boasts a variety of festivals and activities for people of all ages.
If the typical tourist agenda is not for you, you can always spend time doing activities that get you moving as a family. The warmer months are ideal for renting bikes or having a picnic, and during the winter you can choose from a range of activities, like rock climbing or ice skating. Whichever time of year you choose to visit, one thing is for certain, Toronto has something for everyone!
