It wasn’t until I married my husband that I convinced myself to try watching over-the-top gore movies, including films with zombie outbreaks. I honestly couldn’t understand his fascination with these gruesome creatures. Resident Evil, Left 4 Dead, Dead Space, Zombieland, Zombie Cafe.. and the list goes on. I think it’s just the same as my obsession with vampires. But then, vampires are sexy and classy, and zombies are just, well.. repulsive.
The Walking Dead is one of his [our] fave TV series. I just had to agree with him on it. It’s one of the best in zombie “culture”, I guess. Walkers (zombies) are realistic flesh-eating rotting corpses, not genetically modified and alien-looking. Oops, sorry Resident Evil.
Season 1 and 2 are both worthy of approval. The plot, the visual effects, and the artistic makeup sure are impressive, but what’s beyond noteworthy are the complexity of the main characters and how each of them work together for survival. My reason was always put to test whenever they face a new challenge.
I couldn’t believe they killed Shane in Season 2. His presence made each episode interesting. I don’t know what to expect of Season 3, but I can’t imagine TWD without him. Anyhow, in case of a zombie apocalypse, what weapon is your best bet? I’d go for a crossbow (with unlimited ammo, please!) Yeah, that stealth fighting style. I’m forever the frustrated ranger. 🙂 But I’d hang on to a baseball bat if anything goes out of hand. 🙂
I can now bear to watch the blood gushin’, skull crushin’, gut spillin’ scenes without feeling sick. My brother and my cousin are catching up, so we’re all on it for the next season. See you this October, Season 3!
