The fifth and mightiest member of the Chinese Zodiac, the Water Dragon is this year’s zodiac sign. A favorite amongst the Chinese experts, the Dragon is a symbol of all things mighty — strength, ferocity, dominance and drive. To celebrate the good fortune that the Water Dragon brings, the first and longest-standing insurer in the country, Sun Life Financial Philippines stages two big and bright events at the heart of the Chinese and Filipino communities — from the streets of Binondo, to the High Street of Bonifacio Global City, Taguig.
Chief Marketing Officer Mylene Daez-Lopa invites everyone to these festivities: “We are inviting everyone to join Sun Life Financial in ushering the New Year with the sound of victory. Together, let us rattle the Sun Life Chinese rattle drums to awaken the Water Dragon and witness the longest (1,000 feet) dragon parade around the streets.
The Sun Life festivities begin at 9 AM of January 24, in Binondo, Manila, with the motorcade of its 1,000-ft. dragon, parading from the Manila City Hall, through Jones Bridge, and ending at Plaza Lorenzo, where a simple celebration awaits. At 3PM another motorcade and entertainment extravaganza will be held along the streets of lifestyle hub, Bonifacio Global City. Here, we shall showcase performances by drum beaters and zip and poi dancers. We will also have as guest a Feng Shui master, Joy Lim of Charms and Crystals, who will be giving a talk on wealth, health and prosperity during “The Fung Show,” to be hosted by TV and radio personality Mr. Fu.
“The 1,000-ft. dragon of Sun Life Financial Philippines represents the long and steady years that we have been of service to the Filipino and Chinese communities,” continues Lopa. “Every year, we look forward to partaking in the energy that is brought about by welcoming yet another year in the Chinese Lunar Calendar.”
As the year of the Water Dragon makes its way to the lives of Filipinos and Filipino-Chinese communities, so does Sun Life Financial which continues to make its way in providing bigger and brighter days for all the new years to come.
