What is AIT?

  • It is developed by Dr. Guy Berard from France in mid 1960’s, who strongly believes that by allowing a person to hear more normally, one can learn and function better in society.
  • It uses filtered and modulated music to help normalize and improve hearing distortions, improve sensory processing, stimulate the auditory and neurological systems, improve speech and language, as well as mood and social skills, and many more.
  • Its initial purpose was to address genetically induced hearing loss, especially in children with behavioral and learning disorders, autism spectrum disorders, sensory issues including issues including auditory, tactile or other sensory sensitivities (hyper or hypo), dyslexia, pervasive developmental disorder (PDD), attention deficit disorder with or without hyperactivity, anxiety and depression.

How do AIT sessions work?

The programs are individualized for each person based on a pre-screening evaluation. AIT is comprised of 20 sessions. Each sessions lasts for 30 minutes and there are two sessions a day with a minimum of 3-hour rest period in between sessions. The child may opt to rest after 10 sessions for a period of 2 days (max) before continuing.
