The campervan trend has taken over the transport world around the globe. There are plenty of reasons for the popularity of campervanning. The vans have miniature kitchens and beds that act as dinner tables so you can enjoy the comfort of modern luxuries and the freedom to explore the wild on open roads. If you are planning your dream campervan trip, here are six tips as given by Chris Coleman, to make it a success.
But before that…
What Is Campervanning?
You probably know or have heard about camping whereby you just pitch a tent, light a bonfire and share stories with friends or romance your girl under the moonlight.
Campervanning is more comfortable than camping in that you do not need to carry all your camping gear with a backpack. You just need to stuff it inside the van so you can pitch camp anywhere you wish to.
That said here are the six tips as shared by Campervan Hire Easicampers Edinburgh.
1. Ensure You Can Drive the Campervan Yourself
A van is a larger vehicle with a larger turning radius and so driving it can be more challenging than a car. You will enjoy your trip well if you can drive the campervan yourself.
2. Pack Important Things Only
You should bear in mind that it’s a campervan. This means you should only take the essential things you will need on your trip. In that case, you need to pack:
• Food
Ensure the food you pack can be cooked over an open stove. The best foods to pack are bell peppers, potatoes, and sweet corn. In addition, where the campervan has a cooler, you can pack some lean meat so you can make some steaks.
• Clothes
During your campervan trip, you will need some extra clothes. For men, ensure you have some pairs of socks, T-shirts, underwear and at least two hoodies. You also need to bring some jackets because sometimes it gets chilly at night.
For women, ensure you bring with you a warm fleece jacket. They are the most comfortable clothes and do not occupy a big space.
• Miscellaneous
Your phone’s battery will probably go off after some period of usage so ensure you carry with you a phone charger, a flashlight, universal charger, and some extra towels.
• Toiletries
Carry with you a bottle of shampoo, a bar of soap, and toothbrushes.
3. Decide Where You Want to Camp
It would be helpful to decide the best place for your dream campervan trip. Well, you can drive, stop and park then set camp at any place, but it would be good to choose spots that are meant for campervanning. The place should have enough water supply and good parking space.
4. Pack Extra Snacks
A campervan allows you to discover remote areas that have less or no pit stops available. Remember, your body will never care about the lack of available stores. That means you will feel hungry after you complete your trek through the forest. Therefore, ensure to stock extra snacks.
5. Do Not Carry More than the Van Can Accommodate
As mentioned earlier that it’s a van and not a storage facility, space in there is limited and you will occupy some of the space yourself. You do not need too much stuff. Therefore, only carry with you what is going to make your trip enjoyable and leave what doesn’t.
6. Check that You Have Everything Before you Leave
Your campervan like any other vehicle is prone to break down or fail. Remember to check that everything is in good condition before you leave. The last thing you want to see is your van breaking down in the middle of nowhere. To avoid that from happening, you should ensure the van is checked by the experts.
Bonus – Minimize Electricity Usage
There is no need to leave the engine running the light on. Well, you might be tempted to put a soothing tune so you can listen before bedtime but you might forget to switch off the engine and the first thing to see when you wake up is a depleted car battery.
This can be a very frustrating moment, especially if you have gone for a campervan trip where there are no auto shops nearby.
