The Sip & Gogh Century City Mall grand opening event in Makati was such a delightful experience for me and my son. We painted, we sipped, and we laughed the whole afternoon until evening and then after that, we took home our very own painting masterpieces.
Sip and Gogh is the first and only paint and sip studio here in PH. As the name suggests, it is a cozy place wherein you can channel your inner Van Gogh while sipping your favorite drink.
In the history of Western art, Vincent Van Gogh is famous for his oil paintings showcasing his expressive brushwork technique. He’s one of the few artists that I know (yes, thank you my alma maters) especially when we had Art Appreciation classes in college. Van Gogh’s popular paintings include The Starry Night, Irises, Cafe Terrace at Night, and Wheatfield with Crows.
I think it’s the perfect place to de-stress and regain your focus in life, but the studio can also be enjoyed with friends and family. Moreover, it doesn’t matter whether you’re an aspiring artist or you’ve never held a paintbrush before — Sip & Gogh Century City Mall will help you with “uncorking your creativity.”
The Grand Opening
The Sip & Gogh grand opening in Century City Mall holds a wonderful backstory that I think all parents can relate to. One of the owner’s child/daughter couldn’t focus on anything, even for a minute. The child was taken to a Sip & Gogh studio and she painted there for hours. The owner couldn’t believe that her daughter was sitting in a chair quietly and getting absorbed in the activity, so that’s when the owner decided to put up her own Sip & Gogh studio.
After the ribbon-cutting ceremony, toasting, and welcome messages, we all filled our tummies with delicious snacks from the buffet. That time I was able to snap a few photos and mingle with a fellow mommy blogger, Mommy May of merrymommymay.com. 🙂
Painting Session
Finally, the most exciting part came — the painting session. Sir Jerome was our art instructor and he demonstrated a step-by-step guide on how to paint Van Gogh’s The Starry Night. The sample painting was already a simplified version, made easy for beginners.
Sip & Gogh provided everything that we need (painting tools and materials) — canvas, paints, brushes, palette, easel, and apron. A blank canvas is intimidating, especially when you haven’t painted for years. I was still a teen when I last painted on a canvas so I got really nervous at the start of our session. Good thing I had a bottle of red wine with me. 🙂
The painting proper started with a sketch, followed by filling the background [section by section] with acrylic paint and ended by putting on the finishing touches and working with small details.
Although my son isn’t as artistic as other kids and he’s quite unconfident when he’s asked to draw or doodle, I admire him for being fearless when it comes to facing new experiences.
One time he even cried when I asked him to draw on his book to finish his homework. I was thinking that I would be having a hard time convincing him to paint, but he surprised me when he showed excitement and was happy all throughout the session. 🙂
My artwork (Left) and my son’s masterpiece (Right). My son’s painting is a beautiful disarray, and I liked it better than mine.
Painting was one of my past times before. It was more of an emotional release for me whenever I painted. Somewhere along the way, I lost my painting mojo as I give time to more important tasks — work, blogging, and parenting. I want to start painting again, for art’s sake because it’s reason enough to pursue it.

Visit Sip & Gogh in Century City Mall and take home a masterpiece after every session. They have ongoing discounts until August 31, 2017.
I always here about this but I only get to see photos now. I have always like Vincent Van Gogh’s work of art. I know his work when I’ve seen one. Just like Cobonpue’s masterpieces. Painting and sipping at the same time seems too be cool. Hope I can visit their one day.
what a delightful concept. You sip and paint simultaneously. I am sure the kids develop concentration which is so important today in this day and age of mobiles and electronic devices. The colours are vibrant and it seems the letters are dripping with chocolate!
Good point you have there. Kids nowadays are impatient and they become bored easily once you’ve taken their gadgets from them. It’s about time they learn how to become patient and become creative 🙂
One of my fave places is sip and gogh. I feel so relaxed whenever I go there. I used to frequent their qc branch with a friend. And yes, we also love to paint, sip, and laugh. I plan to decorate out room with my sip and gogh paintings. Ihihi. I hope to recover soon from my operation so I could go out and again sip, paint and laugh. Btw, love your starry night version.
I don’t know where I’ve been nga kasi ngayon ko lang ito nalaman. I’d definitely go back, maybe to their QC branch bec it’s more convenient for us. I hope your little bundle of joy isn’t stressing you out so much. Congrats Momi! 🙂
The husband had a Sip & Gogh event at work, I saw the pictures and thought that the concept was absolutely unique and fun even for non-artists. He didn’t participate but was one of the facilitators so he didn’t get to paint or take home a canvas hehe. Would love to try this out with my whole family one day, since we’re all into art. 🙂
I remember we’ve talked about planning to visit here last year, kaso nabaon sa limot. Either that, or nadismiss agad kasi namahalan ako sa presyo, lol. Pero this is really nice, I’ve never tried painting before, nakakatuwa tingnan. Stress reliever ‘to.
Wow, this would be a nice experience for my kids and I to have. I’ve seen some Sip & Gogh branches before but didn’t know what their whole concept was. This is really interesting.
I’d love to try Sip and Gogh. The hubby tried it and he has nice feedback about this. Sana I could bring my child into this kind of thing too.
We celebrated our wedding anniversary in Sip & Gogh two years ago. Painting with your family is really fun. Even though we don’t have skills in painting, we were able to have our own masterpiece. Nakadisplay pa sa living room namin yung painting, proud lang. 🙂
