Me and my officemates had our lunch last week at Sango fast food along Amorsolo Street in Makati. It was my first time to dine there and also my first time to try Japanese burgers.
The establishment looks a bit contemporary compared to traditional Japanese food chains. Japanese magazines are available for reading while you sit on the couch (good luck if you can read ’em!) and they also have a variety of cute origami pieces placed at different areas of the room as decors. Sango mainly offers tummy-filling burgers. But also included in their menu are hotdog sandwiches, Japanese rice meals, fries, salads, and a selection of desserts and drinks.
Since I still preferred rice for lunch, I ordered the Budget Meal 1 priced at Php 235.00 – Yakiniku Rice Burger, Regular Fries, and Honey Dew Melon Soda.
Yakiniku means “grilled meat” in Japanese. Rice burgers make use of rice instead of bread.Ă‚Â My Yakiniku Rice Burger was loaded with beef strips grilled with some special Japanese sauce, added with Simpson leaf lettuce (if I’m not mistaken) and a generous amount of Japanese mayo dressing. The toasted rice adds some serious texture.
