Samgyeopmasarap SM North Towers
It was just the past few weeks when we visited the North Towers in SM North EDSA and I was really excited because there are more buffet options for us — Sambokojin, and two unlimited Korean BBQ restaurants.
This is our 2nd samgyupsal experience (Samgyupsalamat in Maginhawa was the first) so I was expecting a similar table ‘setting’ na may lettuce and unli-meat. So here’s my first Samgyeopmasarap review. 🙂
Samgyeopmasarap SM North EDSA Price
We were able to get a table kaagad since we arrived during off-peak hours. The Samgyeopmasarap menu price per person is straightforward — PhP 349 for unlimited chicken bbq, PhP 399 for unlimited pork bbq, and PhP 499 for unlimited beef bbq.
Samgyeopmasarap Unlimited BBQ also has ala carte dishes: Bibimbap (PhP 250), Japchae (PhP 300), Beef Rib Stew (PhP 300), Bulgogi (PhP 300), and Pajeon (PhP 200).
Kids below 9yo pay 1/2 the price and there’s a leftover penalty of PhP 200. Since my youngest is only 6yo and he’s also PWD, he dined for FREE.
Since 3 of us will pay in full, we ordered the 3 meat variety — pork, beef, chicken. We were served trays of each in classic (plain with pepper) and in more flavorful, marinated options.
I would go for pork bbq if it’s your first time at samgyupsal restaurants because it’s the ‘default’, but I still prefer beef. Habang tumatagal, I couldn’t stand the fatty content ng pork. Nakakaumay siya. I’m a certified beef lover so sulit talaga when we ordered beef. And somehow their marinade (sa beef) is really tasty.
Chicken is cheaper by PhP 150 compared to beef but I have this fear of salmonella whenever I cook chicken at grill restaurants. I always tend to overcook the chicken meat so hindi ko talaga na-eenjoy.
Samgyeopmasarap Side Dishes
Their side dishes are similar with Samgyupsalamat, only that they’re lacking one of my favorites — cheese (pati steamed egg wala rin sila). Ang sarap pa naman ng melted cheese! I’d devour anything with cheese (except for burgers hehe), so Samgyeopmasarap please add cheese in your side dishes please. LOL.
Our unli samgyupsal experience at Samgyeopmasarap was satisfying naman (okay nag-inarte lang po ako sa cheese 🙂 ) considering that the side dishes were yummy. There’s kimchi (a bit sticky and meaty, isn’t runny compared to what I normally eat), veggie strips, braised baby potatoes (Algamja-jorim), lettuce (fresh and crisp), raw onion strips, Ssamjang paste (spicy sauce for wraps) and sesame oil dipping sauces, spicy anchovies, and rice.
Aside from beef strips, my youngest didn’t want to eat anything from our table, even rice. He’s an autistic child and his food preference is ever-changing, so mealtime has always been a challenge for us.
Egg is one of the mainstays in his to-eat list so we ordered him an Egg Roll for PhP 150. It’s basically scrambled eggs with minced veggies, rolled into perfection, and sprinkled with paprika on top. I really enjoyed it. It’s juicy, fluffy, and a feast to the eyes. Generous din yung serving. Too bad hindi man lang tinikman ng anak ko.
Their exhaust pipe was a bit low, medyo nahirapan lang ako mag-grill. I don’t know lang if it’s adjustable ’cause I didn’t ask. The staff also voluntarily changed our grill plates once or twice, which is good. 🙂 We’ll come back when cravings for samgyup kick in again!
I’ve never really had a samgyupsal experience before, and I’m not still not courageous enough to try one because like you, I also tend to overcook the meat when I grill to be on the safe side. My teenage son often complains how our grill food turns out when I cook, hard and dry. Haha! I’ll go check out this samgyup place if I’m around the area.
