I was invited to attend the Global Handwashing Day last October 12 in Baseco Compound, Tondo, Manila — but I couldn’t due to a personal commitment. Sayang! Alden Richards, the one and only Pambansang Bae, was there pa naman to educate kids on how to properly wash their hands.
In this movement to make our country ‘a healthier Philippines’, Safeguard celebrated the Global Handwashing Day together with the nation’s favorite soap and the celebrity icon Alden Richards, representatives from the Department of Health (DOH), Philippine Association of Medical Technologists (PAMET) and the Global Handwashing Partnership (GHP).
They all joined the festivities and took active steps to spread awareness on the relevance of proper handwashing.
In this year’s celebration, Safeguard released the first ever Philippine Handwashing Index. It’s the result of Safeguard’s study that exposes the handwashing habits of Filipinos. Wow, only 2 out of 10 actually wash their hands after using the toilet!
This realization only shows why we should be educated about the importance of these “5 hugas non-negotiables” — after using the toilet, before eating, before “mano”, after playing, and before bonding.
You might wonder if there’s a proper way of washing your hands.. and YES there is. Here is The Best Way To Wash Your Hands infographic. Take note mommies and teach this routine to your kids.
To further stress the importance of proper handwashing, Alden Richards debuted his own Christmas song – “5 Hugas ng Krismas” to remind everyone to regularly wash their hands. LSS-worthy diba?! 🙂
Together with Safeguard and Alden, I also encourage you to do your part in promoting proper handwashing to keep every Filipino family healthy and protected throughout the ber months. Spread the love and not the germs! 🙂
Thank you Safeguard and Green Bulb PR for our Safeguard Christmas gift set! These limited edition packs will be available for only PhP 199 beginning October 15, 2017.
The stats about handwashing here in the Philippines is really disappointing. I can’t say I’m surprised though. Whenever I use the public restroom I do see a lot of women who don’t wash their hands after using the toilet. It’s really gross!
Safeguard has always been our family’s trusted brand! A campaign like this is very helpful to educate kids. Good job…
If only every Filipino would give importance to washing their hands, perhaps the number of diarrhea cases would lessen. I hope through Safeguard’s global handwashing efforts, many would learn the importance of hand washing with antibacterial soap.
I’ve been a safeguard user ever since I was a kid and now that I am a mom, I only trust safeguard. I have taught my toddler to washed her hands lagi, because they love to explore. Lahat ng pweding isubo, sinusubo. Now my toddler made it a habit to washed her hands before and after meals.
These global handwashing day is very important thing to practice even not just that day but everyday. Specially to our children and like me na may toddler na subrang likot ng kamay na kahit anong makita kapain at after isubo sa bibig ang finger. So happy also that the Safeguard product survived from the time na nagkaroon ako ng understanding ito na ang ginagamit namin.
Nakakatuwa kasi we’re Safeguard users for long now. After all, it’s the brand we’ve used since we were young. Ang tagal na ng Safeguard no, hanggang ngayon, they’re still here. I’m happy that they’re doing events like these as well.
This really needs to be practiced everyday until it becomes a habbit. Though, I’m aqare of its importance, I sometimes forget it because it isn’t part of my routine or habbit. I shall do this with my kids. 🙂
Yes, “Spread the love not germs”. This is my son’s soap, it started last year when he got a free sample during his Field Trip. It is very important to wash our hands to protect us from bacteria and germs.
