I am obsessed with documenting our family life so one of my ongoing projects is creating Family Yearbooks.
Actually I just started last year. I collected our 2018 photos (the previous year syempre, kasi hindi pa tapos ang 2019) and then I selected a few na pwede kong ilagay sa yearbook.
I am trying to minimize the use of paper, that I actually signed up at Paperless Post, wherein cards and invitations can just be sent online (with animations pa!). But with photos, I want some of them to be printed.
PastBook
My first plan was to make photobooks via PastBook, because it’s super easy — just login your Facebook/Instagram account, then select a year, one click and it’s done! The photos come with captions pa, but the downside for me? It’s too pricey. I’d have to spend at least PHP 3,600 for the small size (21x15cm). But I still want a PastBook for my Instagram photos. Next time!
Photobook Philippines
My 2nd option is Photobook PH. I wanted to make larger photobooks for our yearbooks kaso mahal pa rin hahaha so I’m sticking with 6×6. I sometimes bring our photo albums wherever I go so perfect na rin yung travel-size lang. Moreover, Photobook Philippines has never let me down so far. 🙂
I’ll share with you how I create our yearbooks via Photobook PH.
How to Create a Family Yearbook
- Decide on the YEAR. For me, it’s ideal that you work on the previous year and if it’s your first time, work first on the previous year then go backwards.
- Collect photos of that particular year. I always post our memories on Instagram so I use my IG feed as a guide for what’s going to get included in our yearbook. Our photos are organized in folders sa hard drive so hindi ako nahirapan maghanap. But there are tagged photos on Facebook too so I scan them also. I have thousands of photos but I still managed to narrow them down to 200 – 300.
- Edit your photos. You may skip this step if you want, but for me, improving the brightness and contrast levels create more attractive print results.
- Choose a photobook provider. My favorite is Photobook Philippines!
- Choose the size of your yearbook. I always order the 6×6 mini photo books because they’re travel-friendly and promos are always available at Metrodeal. You can always choose a bigger one if you want an album with bigger photos, but of course, it’s more expensive.
- Choose a Template. Photobook PH has a lot of readymade templates to choose from. Choose a template design for yearly celebrations and recaps.
- Upload your photos. Drag and drop lang siya. 🙂
- Insert your photos on each page. You may auto-insert the photos (random) or drag each photo to the photo boxes. This is the most tiring part but it’s worth it.
- Design your photobook. Actually, readymade templates are good to go, but I prefer adding more embellishments and captions.
- Upload, then checkout.

The original price of a 6×6 mini photobook from Photobook Philippines is PHP 1,200. But you can only get the photobook for PHP 20 if you purchase a voucher from Metrodeal.
Since it’s a yearbook nga, I added an additional 28 pages and that’s PHP 350. I also upgraded the paper to 190 gsm lustre paper for PHP 50. My total is PHP 420. 🙂
The template that I chose for our 2018 yearbook has a Monthly preview and it’s where I showcased our monthly highlights.
I sometimes change the background to match the month (hearts for February) and add more elements and texts to the pages.
Since the size of our yearbooks is small (6×6 inches), I can only add short descriptions.
Adding text is tough work (hindi nga perfect yung placements), but it made our yearbooks more personal, and so that my kids and my husband won’t ask me over and over again, “Where was this again?”
I still have more yearbooks projects to do and I hope I get to finish them soon before my MOMnesia gets the best of my memory LOL. Again, happy new year!

I’m a fan of photobooks. I have so many of those na 🙂
Same here! Photobooks are worth creating and collecting! 🙂
hindi nagwork sa kin ang photobook. I tried it before, but ayaw tanggapin ang photos ko. they considered them low res. so i just had someone work on our photos manually.
Oh sorry to hear. They have a new service, you can just send your photos and they will design / create your photobook for you 🙂
this is another project that i often say to myself, will do tomorrow. perhaps i should really give time to this. your post is a great reminder for me not to put it off for tomorrow.
Yes, especially if you have a lot of photos na naka-save lang sa computer mo 🙂
We also love photobook, so many memories to look at to when you have them. It keeps the memories alive by just looking at them lalo na siguro if malalaki na yun mga kids 🙂
Yes, that’s one of the reasons why I order photobooks. I can go back in time, anytime!
