After Zaiel had his pedia checkup and 2d echo a few months ago, we headed to Trinoma and dined at Pepper Lunch Express. I was craving for beef pepper rice so I ordered sizzling plate meals for us both.
Pepper Lunch (or Peppaa-ranchi in Japanese) originated in Japan in 1994. Their first outlet in the Philippines is at Power Plant mall. According to its website, it’s a “fast-steak” restaurant created by Japanese chef and inventor, Mr. Kunio Ichinose. The concept allows diners to cook their own food on their tables.
There is a wide variety of meat dishes to try (beef, chicken, pork, salmon) with your own choice of sauce – Amakuchi (teriyaki, onion sauce, honey brown sauce) or Karakuchi (garlic soy sauce).
My son do have a liking for food with eggs so I got him the Teriyaki Beef Pepper Rice with Egg (Php 188). He’s a very impatient kid but I told him to wait for the meat to be cooked.
The serving was just about right for lunchtime. I also noticed the generous amount of rice toppings (corn, pepper, and chopped leeks) compared to the beef pepper rice from The Sizzlin’ Pepper Steak restaurant. Small “things” still make a difference, right?
Cooked beef swimming in flavorful teriyaki sauce. I’m going to consider purchasing a sizzle plate so I might try making my own at home.
My plain Beef Pepper Rice (PhP 145). I ordered the cheapest from the menu. =p I love my pepper rice all mixed-up! It’s more delish that way, and it also helps the hot dish to cool faster.
The Pepper Lunch Menu and Prices. Bestsellers are BBQ Beef and Pork Pepper Rice, Supreme Pepper Rice, and Teriyaki Chicken Omu Pepper Rice.
Pepper Lunch Express Menu and Prices. They offer more affordable pepper rice dishes.
