We always remember our many firsts in life. First pet, first bestfriend, first kiss. I clearly remember all of them, including my very first cellphone. Let me take you to a “blast from the past” mobile phone journey as I share each and every handset I officially owned throughout the years.
Nokia 5110
I got my first mobile phone in year 2000 when my parents both agreed to buy me one. I was in 2nd year high school and I only had a few textmates back then. I remember collecting transparent & spray-painted cases to dress it up and playing the classic Snake game for hours. Durability and extended battery life are its key features. I gave it to my grandmother in the province after I received my second phone.
Nokia 8210
I received my Nokia 8210 from Dad. I got crazy over screen holograms and I would regularly go to Greenhills to get a mobile phone makeover. I loved this cellphone to bits that it broke my heart when it was taken from me by some a**hole hold-upper somewhere in Divisoria. I still keep the purple eggplant case with me.
Nokia 7110
A hand-me-down from dad. I like its wider screen compared to my previous phone. I think it instantly makes the owner look more mature and smarter. It comes with a slider and I sometimes played with it when I’m bored. I’m satisfied with its chameleon body so I never swapped cases.
Motorola V70
My phone throughout college. One of my favorite cellphones in the world, thanks to my dad. Small, sleek, and sophisticated. This mobile is alien – Â blue backlight, round screen, and super awesome rotating cover. It fits easily inside a small pocket (just like my Nokia 8210), and it never failed to grab attention from strangers. The downside? Buttons are super tiny, I had to use my fingernails.
Nokia 3220
Courtesy of my mom. My first phone with a colored screen and a camera. And oh, it also introduced the polytone feature to me. I don’t remember much about this, only that it goes with flashing side lights whenever I played some music.
Nokia 6280
A gift from my boyfriend-turned-husband; my fifth Nokia cellphone. I first recorded my son’s heartbeat using this and it sure stored a lot of other special memories from my lover, my friends, my co-workers, and my family.
Samsung Galaxy Note GT-N7000
My first ever smartphone. Received this as a V-day surprise this year from hubby. I couldn’t be more happier. My old cellphones looked liliputian compared to this. It was love at first sight and it’s been such a sweet love affair ever since. 🙂
