Before kuya Z’s Promil Four i-Shine Art Camp, he first participated in a free trial class of Likhang Bata: Meet the Art Masters art workshop at The Learning Nook.
Meet the Art Masters is the first ever Art History and Art Studies Course for kids in the Philippines. It aims to help children from 1-12 years old awaken their imagination and to promote creative development through [art] appreciation of popular masterpieces scattered in different timelines of art history.

Likhang Bata: Meet the Art Masters Summer Workshop
The Learning Nook is along West Avenue, Quezon City and located on the 2nd floor. It’s a small classroom with a relaxed atmosphere. Inclusive na rin sa workshop yung tools and art materials ng kids.
Filipino Artist: Pacita Abad
The workshop started with a brief introduction about Meet the Art Masters. After that, they moved on to the topic at hand, Pacita Abad, a Filipino artist who was given recognition for her work, here and abroad. She “received numerous awards in the field of painting.” –Wikipedia
“I always see the world through color, although my vision, perspective and paintings are constantly influenced by new ideas and changing environments. I feel like I am an ambassador of colors, always projecting a positive mood that helps make the world smile.” – Pacita Abad
The kids’ art activity was inspired by Pacita Abad’s paintings in multicolor circles.
They started with a paper, water, roller, and paint. They dampened the paper using a roller, then they used the same roller to spread color paint on each paper.
After the paint dried, they glued seashells to their artwork using a glue gun (of course with the help & guidance of the teachers.)
After adorning their artwork with shells, they added pre-cut spirals.
To finish off their multimedia artwork, they covered the entire thing with glue to make it shiny.
Stretching exercises pagkatapos ng art activity! They were reminded to always relax their hands and their arms after every activity.
Before the teachers ended the workshop, tinanong ulit from whom they took the inspiration for their previous activity. Z volunteered to answer (at least I know he was paying attention. 🙂 )
Z was never really focused on his art. Lagi niyang tinatapos agad yung each step tapos kukuha ng book sa shelves. I’m so proud to have raised a reader! 🙂
I was told that The Learning Nook offers reading classes all year round. You may visit their FB page to inquire.
Buong summer ganito ang drama lagi pagkatapos ng isang workshop session. Either he’s hungry or he wants to go home right away to play video games, LOL.
Nice. Nag inquire din ako before sa art classes but hindi natuloy because of conflict on my son’s basketball training and league. So we just managed to do some art activity at home.
We’re supposed to enroll my son in art class too last summer but when I learned that we will have 16 sessions, napaback-out ako. 16 weekends din yun na hindi kami makakaalis, summer pa naman. hehehe! Your son really enjoys the art workshop, it is obvious with his photos. 🙂
