Here’s another throwback post! I still have more than a hundred photos to blog about (backBLOGS!) and it feels great to get on the blogging track again. This one’s from one of our food adventures last 2013. We tried Magnolia Flavor House, a sun-drenched restaurant situated at the SM North EDSA’s Skygarden. We would normally go to Icebergs Restaurant or Dairy Queen for frozen desserts but the place looked like an inviting sun lounge we had to get in.

Magnolia Flavor House is basically an ice cream parlor but you can also order main meals and other snacks. Some of their ice cream flavors are NSA (no sugar added) ice creams, and it’s good news to those who are counting their calorie intake.

Zaiel ordered Ermie and Bert (PhP 140). I’m not quite sure if Ermie is a typo error (should be Ernie… Ernie and Bert of Sesame Street). Anyway, the ice cream duo in ube and strawberry flavors looks very adorable with their “sugar cone” hats on. And because of the generous toppings of whipped cream, chocolate candies, cereals, and sprinkles, it’s probably the most kid-approved from the list of their ice cream specialties. Next time we’re having ice cream at home, I’ll remake the ice cream with hat presentation.

Hubby got himself a full serving of Chunky Monkey (PhP 240) – three scoops of chocolate ice cream, topped with banana slices, brownies, whipped cream, chocolate chips, and chocolate syrup. The choco-banana combo is always a sure hit. The serving’s large enough for two, but that is if you want to share.

My taste buds are always in favor of the salty side so I requested for Mac and Cheese (PhP 210). And yes, it was a bit salty (or the cheese was overwhelming) but I really enjoyed it down to the last mouthful. Plus, anything with bacon is divine! I haven’t tried whipping up mac & cheese at home, ever, so I probably would include it in my to-make list.

Good food, but prices are a bit high (PhP 250 – PhP 300 per head). Here’s the Magnolia Flavor House menu for more of their ice cream specialties. Make sure you try one when you visit soon.
