Do you often struggle with birthday parties? If you feel like they’re a bit challenging to plan out, you’re in luck! As someone who throws birthday parties more often than the average person because of my children, I’ve learned a lot along the way and want to share some helpful tips and pointers with you. So, if you’d like to have a stress-free experience while planning a child’s birthday, try these simple tips to see how much of a difference they can make.
Keep the List Short and Sweet
You don’t need to invite dozens of people to the birthday. Rather than inviting your child’s entire classroom, consider asking two of your child’s best friends to come over to your house for the party or wherever else you plan to have it, such as a small venue. It will save you time and money, but it’s also more intimate, making it even more special for your children.
Limit the Time of the Party
Who says you have to party for hours on end? Why bother doing that and causing yourself to feel drained? Save yourself the frustration by choosing to limit the party to certain times. For example, you can invite your child’s friends to come over for a party starting at 2 PM and ending at 4 PM. Two hours is more than enough time for the children to have fun together. It’s also enough time for cake and presents, so it’s a win-win for everyone involved.
Pick Out Activities the Children Can Do
Instead of trying to arrange all these complicated activities that require a bunch of assistance from adults, offer some self-directed activities that the children can do themselves. For example, if you’re having a train-themed party, you can set up some train tracks and supply the kids with little trains to use on the tracks. If you want to do a story, you can have the children sit down together and read a book so that everyone is not all over the place. You don’t have to offer a bunch of crafts and games that will cause you to feel frustrated and stressed over making everything perfect. Another fun activity could be doing word puzzles together. Children can use a word tool to learn new words easily while having fun.
Choose the Ideal Location for Children
While it’s fine to have the party at your place, if you don’t want to worry about cleaning up a mess afterward, you can book a small venue that will handle that for you. Choosing a place with arcade games or open space for children to run around, such as an indoor playground, would be a great idea. It keeps the kids busy but also eliminates a lot of the stress you’re experiencing as a parent who wants to plan the perfect party for your child.
Keep the Decorations Simple
You don’t have to buy the most expensive handmade decorations to use at your child’s party. For most kids, it’s not about the decorations but the time spent together having a genuinely good time celebrating their birthday. You can use streamers and regular balloons for decorative purposes. You don’t even need to stick with a specific theme. Although if your child is a fan of Frozen we recommend this cute Elsa Frozen snowflake wand. The dollar store has plenty of great decorations worth using for a birthday party of any size.
