The time of pregnancy is both beautiful and challenging. There are so many decisions to make! Shopping for baby’s accessories, and of course – creating a safe place for your newborn to sleep. Buying a perfect cot bed isn’t as easy as many think. If you can’t make the right decision, we are here to help!
A cot bed – the comfort and safety of baby’s sleep
Small babies need a lot of sleep to grow and develop properly. Making a safe sleep environment is one of the most important factors in preventing the baby from Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS). Many parents decide to shop online for baby cribs, but a wide range of products makes it hard to make a perfect choice. What type of cot bed would be the best? Check out the most popular options!
1. Traditional cot bed
Traditional, wooden baby’s cot beds are still very popular among new parents. They are safe, long-lasting, and beautiful. This cot bed is suitable for babies from birth to at least a few months. Some models grow with your child and can be transformed into a toddler bed so they can serve your child for a long time, which makes them a great investment.
2. Round crib
A round baby’s crib is a great combination of design with safety. The curved design and zero sharp edges make the cot bed a great place not only for naps or night’s sleep but also for playing. Because they’re round, you need to have special accessories like a mattress, or bedding. Compared to standard cribs and accessories, those round ones tend to be much more expensive.
3. Bedside crib
Co-sleeping may give a newborn a feeling of closeness and safety but for many parents, it’s not comfortable at all. The solution may be a bedside baby bed. It will provide the parents and the baby with a convenient sleep environment and guarantee the closeness, that is necessary for the little ones. Most of the bedside cribs though are suitable only for children from birth up to 6 months of age.
4. Sleigh crib
Little babies love rocking, so the sleigh design of a cot can be a great idea! They are functional and elegant, so they will fit in most nursery rooms. They are mostly made of solid wood and can be painted in many different colors, from the crisp white finish to the girly pink.
5. Travel cot
This is a great solution for parents, who like to travel with their little ones a lot. A travel cot is easy to fold and fits in most cars. This type of cot isn’t usually equipped with a quality mattress, so if you’re intending to use it on a regular basis, it may be necessary to buy a good fibre mattress.
