I am all for my children’s holistic development and during this season, summertime and vacation, I start the hunt for summer workshops and activities that they can participate in. Last summer was a busy one for my eldest — he joined Promil i-Shine Talent Camp Year 6 (with mentor Teacher Robert Alejandro for Art Camp), Summer Rhythm hip-hop dance class by Araneta Center and Dance Plus Philippines, and his ongoing piano lessons at Lyric Philippines. Neo wasn’t able to have summer classes last year since we were focusing on Speech and Occupational Therapies.
This summer 2019, Purple Pieces is collaborating with Consis Better Learning Center to share with you how your child can learn better consistently.
Consis Better Learning Center
So last weekend Z and I visited Consis at BGC, Taguig (2nd floor, Serendra Retail, beside Dogs in the City and above Conti’s). Market! Market! is also nearby so Consis is easy to spot.
Consis has a conducive learning environment for children, and my first impression was the classroom looks fun and inviting. There are enough tables and chairs, shelves for educational books and board games, and even floor pillows for kids who want to take short breaks.
Consis Assessment & Trial Class
Z’s assessment consisted of play time and worksheets (and Multiplication Worksheets are just as interesting). He started with Gravity Maze, a logic game, and he said that it was the highlight of his visit. He was also provided with worksheets to test his focus and academic abilities.
Right after his assessment, Teacher Erika, the teacher in charge during our visit, explained to me the procedure of how they normally give assessments and mentioned a few observations about Z’s performance.
Z’s focus was okay since he was able to get a good score on the focus and attention worksheet. Only that I was told Z wasn’t consistent from start to finish. He would be really focused in the beginning then loses his momentum as he goes through the latter part of the test. So there’s still room for improvement when it comes to this area of learning.
Another concern that we really need to address is Z’s independence when answering most of the worksheets. He would first ask the teacher what to do with the worksheet without even reading or understanding the instruction.
Teacher Erika also mentioned that he was having a hard time with some of the subjects, especially Math. Math is also my weakness so I’m not really surprised, LOL. Overall, he’s lagging behind his academic performance in school but I’m confident that Consis will help him catch up.
Z’s strength is once he gets it, he gets it. He’s a fast learner. He’s also an avid reader, so he copes with simple obstacles most of the time. But sometimes kids need guidance; a little push to the right direction and that’s what Consis is here for — to help our children improve in various learning skills and do better in school and in life.
AFEP Program
During our discussion, Teacher Erika explained to me that they use the AFEP Program. It is a program that enhances the 27 points in our brain.
This program definitely helps children to improve on not one but two or more skills, depending on the activity. The 27 points include:
- Holistic Perception
- Spatial Skills
- Visual Memory
- Short-term Memory
- Similarities
- Concurrency
- Organization
- Planning
- Thinking Skills Development
- 3D Perception
- Ordering
- Fine Motor Skills
- Verbal Skills
- Arithmetic Skills
- Auditory Attention
- Short-term Visual Memory
- Auditory Concentration
- Auditory Differentiation
- Visual Differentiation
- Visual Concentration
- Attention Strength and Concentration
- Increased Attention Span
- Hand-eye Coordination
- Increased Conceptual Skills
- Attention to Details
- Relationship Tracking
- Interpretive Judgment
What makes Consis unique from other Tutorial Centers?
Consis Better Learning Center is a conjunction of three major programs: the Attention Enhancement Program, Personality Development Program, and School Support Program, with the Attention and Focus Enhancement program being its core program. Since most kids nowadays are easily distracted with gadgets like mobile phones and tablets, their focus and attention are being compromised. At Consis, they believe that attention and focus enhancement is key for kids to succeed in education and career.
Compared to other tutorial centers, they go beyond just having the students finish their homework. They use a holistic approach through their programs and specialized materials to improve the students’ study skills.
Moreover, they don’t discriminate. In fact, they try to be as inclusive as possible. They welcome kids with special needs upon assessment, and they try to come up with individualized programs for them.
Learning through Play
During our visit, Z was able to play board games with one of Consis’ students. I’m happy that Z wasn’t shy at all. I think after years of taking him to different places and involving him in different social situations helped improve his confidence and social skills.
Aside from play being the right of every child, it is a very important aspect of learning. Play builds a child’s character and its benefits outweigh those skills that can only be learned inside the classroom. That’s why Consis allows their students to play, interact, and have fun with other children to help improve their verbal skills, social skills, and many more.
Consis Summer Learners’ Lab
This summer, from April 8 – May 30, 2019, I invite you all to join Summer Learners Lab. It is a specialized academic program for 3 different age groups: Wonder Lab, Discover Lab, and Explore Lab. This program is crafted to develop all 27 points of a child’s brain to help him or her prepare for the next school year.
Wonder Lab (For 2-5 year old learners)
Play-based learning for little kids. There will be tons of activities to fuel your child’s imagination and creativity.
Discover Lab (For 6-12 year old learners)
4 programs will help kids 6-12 years old develop the necessary skills to get to the next level — Attention & Focus Enhancement, Personal Development, English enhancement, and Mathematics Enhancement.
Explore Lab (For 13 years old & up learners)
This program is for teenagers who want to improve their study habits, time management skills, and problem-solving skills. This is also in preparation for their chosen career path.
Your Child Can Learn Better Consistently
Consis stands for Consistency. Being an after-school learning program, Consis aims to provide consistent after-school support and career preparation, especially for older students. Enrolled students get assistance with their homework as needed, but they will also be encouraged and trained to become strategic and independent learners. Their progress and accomplished tasks will be recorded in the Monitoring Sheet.
Consis FREE Assessment
Assessment is FREE for Summer Learners’ Lab and for the After-School programs. 🙂 You’ve got nothing to lose and something to gain. Consis’ capable teachers and educators will help you take the right path for your child’s learning journey. If you’re interested, check the links below.

They have good offerings! Would have considered checking this had we not signed up for another class yet.
I am all for children learning in a holistic way. It is good that there are places like this now where you can enroll the children to learn. Back then, I only have too few options for my little man and we ended up in a play center for small children. Now is the best time to try this place. People can take advantage of their free assessment promo.
I know right? Kids nowadays are lucky that they have a lot of options when it comes to learning and leisure.
