Cerazette Pill: Safe for Breastfeeding Moms

Cerazette-progestin-pill-breastfeeding

Day 1 of taking POP.

POP what?

POP stands for “progestogen-only pill” or “mini pill”. They contain the active ingredient desogestrel which works as a contraceptive primarily by preventing the release of an egg from the ovary (ovulation) and this pill is safe for breastfeeding moms like me.

My OB-Gyne and I discussed about regulating my menstrual period so she can teach me some natural contraceptive methods later on. Since I’m breastfeeding, she prescribed me a progestin-only pill, the Cerazette.

According to netdoctor.co.uk, small amounts of this medicine may pass into breast milk, however there are no known harmful effects when it is used by breastfeeding mothers. It also does not affect the production of breast milk.

I am supposed to finish two packs and take note of my menstrual period intervals.

Reminder: Do NOT take this pill while pregnant. And if breastfeeding, consult your doctors first.
